Gagan Sandhu and Mandy Alamwala to set the foundation for your child’s lifelong oral health.
When should your child first see a dentist?
According to the ADA, your child should visit a dentist within six months of their first tooth emerging but no later than their first birthday. They should continue with check-ups every six months after that.
While they only have a few teeth at this point, a dental exam allows the dentist to monitor your child’s oral growth and development. During your child’s dental appointment, it may seem like not much is to be done because no X-rays are taken. However, with a simple dental exam, the dentist can tell a lot about your child’s smile.
As your child grows, the visits become advanced and may include X-rays and orthodontic evaluations to promote a healthy smile.
What are the child-friendly services we offer?
We understand that children’s dental care is different from adults. We have designed our amenities, dental tools, and services with your child in mind. We want to make your child as comfortable as possible whenever you visit us.
Our child-friendly services include:
- Dental exams: Routine check-ups allow us to identify and treat oral problems before they progress. Our painless exams also help monitor your child’s oral development.
- Dental cleanings: Your child is learning the art of oral hygiene, so they may not be thorough with brushing and flossing. We complement your child’s oral hygiene efforts at home with gentle dental cleanings. Teeth cleanings eliminate plaque and tartar from the surface of the teeth to prevent decay, infections, and bad breath.
- Dental X-rays: Dental X-rays are a valuable diagnostic tool that helps dentists spot dental problems beneath the surface. When your child is of age and needs X-rays, we use digital X-rays, which offer a safe alternative to traditional X-rays and emit significantly low radiation levels.
- Fluoride treatments: Fluoride helps strengthen the enamel against tooth decay. While your child can get fluoride from water, food, and oral products, this may not be sufficient for decay prevention. We offer quick and painless fluoride treatments to replenish the enamel with this vital nutrient.
- Dental sealants: A sealant is a thin, plastic coating painted to the chewing surfaces of teeth to “seal out” unwanted bacteria and corrosive acids. Applying dental sealants is painless and is often completed in a single visit.
