COMPOSITE RESTORATIONS
- Sensitivity of treated tooth is usually most noticeable in the first 12-24 hours but can last longer.
- Sensitivity, especially to cold temperatures, is common for a few days following a composite filling. The deeper the cavity, the more sensitive the tooth may be.
- The gum tissue could have been irritated during the procedure and may be sore for a few days. If anesthesia was administered, the injection site would also be sore for the same duration.
- The filling is fully set and you are set to eat as you usually would when you leave the office. If anaesthesia was administered please be careful while eating until it wears off so you don’t bite your lips, cheeks, or tongue.
- In Children, when fillings are done under anesthesia, they should be closely observed until it wears off. Due to the strange numb feeling, many children tend to chew the inside of their lips, cheeks, or tongue, which can cause serious damage.
- The finished restoration may be contoured slightly and have a different texture than the original tooth. Your tongue usually magnifies this small difference, but you will become accustomed to this in a few days.
- If after a week or two, you feel your teeth do not touch correctly please call you Clinical Coordinator. This problem can be solved with a quick adjustment to the filling.
- Proper brushing and flossing is recommended to help your fillings last for a longer time. Having your teeth cleaned every six months and an examination with x-rays will help prolong the life of your fillings.
- In case of any concerns or queries, please call or text us.
